With the new insurance law and the requirement for all Americans to be insured, the need for inexpensive insurance is absolutely necessary. Discount health insurance plans are available if one takes the time to do a little research and search.

Some of the work has been done by the website, http://www.discounthealthinsuranceplans.net. The owners of the site offer several ideas on how to save, not only on health insurance, but alternatives to high rates on life, auto and retirement insurance. Set up in an easy to navigate manner, you can easily tab from one page to another and see some of the options available with various opportunities to check insurance rates.

Considering the huge profits that insurance companies generate year after year, it is not strange that you would think that rates could be lower if shopped properly and that there are discount health insurance plans available.

The 2 main most common terms in referring to health care insurance are usually premium, that is the amount paid for the insurance coverage, and deductible, that is your out-of-pocket charge prior to the insurance pays your provider. For instance, perhaps you may pay $300 premium each month for family members insurance plan, and your deductible could be $250 per person, which means if you fell and broke your ankle and went to the hospital emergency room, you would probably be forced to pay for the first $250 of the bill.

You can purchase very basic catastrophic insurance policy coverage, that would likely have an extremely high deductible and the premium would be less than comprehensive coverage which in turn can have a more expensive premium and lower deductible. It can be profitable to invest enough time to investigate a variety of insurance plan alternatives, taking under consideration how old you are, your basic overall health as well as the overall health of your family members.

Your employer may provide you with group health insurance, which often is most likely the least pricey choice for you personally, and normally the premium is subtracted from your pay check. If that is the case, you may not need the services and information on the site but it can’t hurt to check it out anyway.

Discovery Channel has announced a new reality show with Sarah Palin. Survivor producer Mark Burnett will be bring it to us as a documentary about Alaska with Sarah Palin. The former Vice-Presidential candidate and Burnett have been shopping the Palin reality show for some time and have come to an agreement for an 8 part series which will cost less than 1 million dollars an episode.

Many had thought that the Palin Reality Show would have cost much more than that so the number is a bit of a surprise. The former Governor of Alaska is looking forward to showing off her home state as well as working with the Discovery Channel, home of Kate Goslin, as she and her family watch that channel anyway.

There has been no announcement of an airing date as the Palin Reality Show has yet to be filmed. The Palin Reality Show almost guarantees that there wll be a strong audience as haters and lovers of Palin will surely watch. Sarah Palin has done some other TV work since she resigned as Governer of Alaska, most notably working with Fox News as a commentator.

It is also not known what time or day the Palin Reality Show will be on but you can almost guarantee it will get a prime spot on the Discovery Channel lineup.

The Apple Store closed briefly but when the store went back online, it had iPads for sale. When will the iPad be available? The iPads will be available to be shipped April 23 so I assume that if you want one without a long wait is to order one now and get on line. When the iPad does hit the streets you can expect to see them in every Starbucks and cafe that has internet.

One way to bypass Apple and get an iPad and possibly bypass the lines would be to order from a reseller such as MacMall.

America’s most respected and prominent Apple direct reseller, MacMall Is The #1 Apple Direct Reseller They sell more Apple-branded products than any other direct Apple reseller. They have been supplying Apple products to Apple enthusiasts since 1991. No other Internet retailer/catalog company can match their knowledge and experience.

With the versatile iPad one is able to surf the web using the web browser, Safari, check email, read ebooks and much much more. There will be apps available not unlike the iPhone as well.

iPad costs range from 500.00 to a little over 800.00. So, if you want the next neat piece of technology that is coming out, take a peek at that the iPad has to offer you.

Conan O’Brien rolled out his 30-city Legally Prohibited From Being Funny On Television Tour on Thursday, billing it as “a night of music, comedy, hugging and the occasional awkward silence.”

The comedian’s live tour will begin in Eugene, Ore., on April 12 and make a stop, on April 24 and 25, at Universal Studios in Los Angeles (yes, the same entertainment complex owned by O’Brien’s longtime employer, NBC Universal, and just a stone’s throw away from the glitzy studio that NBC built for O’Brien to host “The Tonight Show,” a job that lasted less than eight months).

O’Brien, sidekick Andy Richter and members of O’Brien’s band will make stops in Vancouver, British Columbia; Boulder, Colo., Chicago; Atlantic City, N.J.; and in New York City at Radio City Music Hall — across the street from NBC’s corporate headquarters, 30 Rockefeller Plaza. Tickets start at $39.50.

“It was either a massive 30-city tour or start helping out around the house,” O’Brien said in a release announcing the event.

Tiger Woods is tuning up his game for a comeback very soon. It appears that golf’s biggest franchise has been seen on the range in Orlando with his golf teacher and will make his return to the PGA Tour for the Arnold Palmer Invitational in Orlando in just a couple of weeks. The amount of money Tiger lost in endorsements is said to be in the tens of millions and part of him rebuilding his brand is to get back on the golf course, win some tournaments, get some love from the galleries and scream “Show me the money”.

Woods, of course, had that mess back around Thanksgiving where he was outed for being a serial cad but has since gone to cad rehab, had cad counseling and seems to have straightened out that slice that was causing a huge rift in his marriage. Tiger Woods has not made any public statements about an actual date of his return… just that he would return in due time.

As to picking up endorsements, that remains to be seen but the world forgets easily and forgets even easier when the errors were committed by a winner. Once Tiger Woods returns and wins a few tournaments life will go back to normal, the endorsements will roll in and the revenue stream will come back to the household of Elin and Tiger Woods.

Perhaps he will strike it perfectly at the Arnold Palmer and start the process of becoming the most dominant golfer of our time.

Today is the grand opening of a new concept from Target and Liberty of London.

New Yorkers will get a sneak peek at Target’s latest collaboration Wednesday.

And considering Liberty of London has crossed the pond to be here, it should be quite an event.

Target will launch a pop-up store of flowery goods, and this one has everyone covered: Men, women, children and even home goods go on sale starting at 11 a.m. Wednesday at 1095 Sixth Ave., next to Bryant Park.

The pop-up preview store will house the collection, which includes piggy banks, lamps, ties, bathing suits and even a bike ($199.99) decked out in the British brand’s signature prints.

Liberty, which started in 1875, collaborates with an international array of upscale brands that are carried in its stately London flagship store. But what they’re best known for are the prints - their archive holds over 43,000 designs.

Check out the pop-up Wednesday (11 a.m.-8 p.m.), Thursday through Saturday (9 a.m.-8 p.m.), or in Target Stores this Sunday.

This could be a nice long term collaboration with a couple of heavy hitters in the retail world and could offer employment opportunities due to this expansion.

The following are going to be strutting their stuff: Kate Gosselin, mother of eight, Pamela Anderson, PETA spokesperson and actress, Chad OchoCinco, mouthy wide receiver, Erin Andrews of ESPN fame, Shannen Doherty, everyone’s favorite happy actress, Evan Lysacek, an Olympic Gold Medalist among others.

Who would have thought that a Television show that focuses on bringing in bad talent to dance would have lasted 10 seasons? Of course there have been some good dancers but the majority of the talent has been mediocre and a fair amount has been absolutely awful.

It goes to show you that people still like to rubberneck when they see an accident scene and if you put that kind of product on the small screen, you will make money as this franchise is doing.

Heavy snow caused layoffs increasing jobless claims to 468,000 as unemployment lines got just a little longer. Count that and add in that many state agencies were closed due to the extreme weather and you have the perfect storm as the backlog jam is in the process of getting caught up.

Instead of the Wall Street analysis number being 455,000 claims rose by 22,000 to the 468,000 number. I guess there is no accounting in down town New York for the weather. Construction companies all along the middle and upper east coast were halted by the weather as well as other weather sensitive related companies.

In addition to the new found additional 22,000, the four week average, used to maintain some semblance of lack of volatility, rose by 6,000 making the total out of work an additional 30,000. That’s a bad figure as it appears that companies are continuing to cut back on their employees.

Among the states, North Carolina had biggest increase in claims, with 5,897, which it attributed to layoffs in the construction, furniture and mining industries. Pennsylvania and Kentucky also reported large increases. The state data lags initial claims by one week.

California reported the largest drop in claims, with 5,540, which it attributed to fewer layoffs in services. Illinois, New York, Texas and Missouri recorded the next largest decreases.

There is increased hope that the new jobs bill will begin to level out the unemployment numbers and make some progress towards the positive as opposed to the increased unemployment numbers that are still trending the wrong way.

Oprah Winfrey, one of the most influential television show hosts, is bring back her annual Oscar show and will be celebrating the 82nd year of the Academy Awards. ” brought by Oprah’s production company Harpo Productions, in conjunction with ABC will have Oprah interviewing the biggest stars in Hollywood.

The expected settings are to be intimate and casual and will air the week prior to the Academy Awards which will air on March 7th.

The date and time of this year’s “The Oprah Winfrey Oscar Special” will be March 3rd at 10:00 ET and will surely be watched by millions. Oprah, the brand, is a winner on the small screen and commands an audience that will cause advertisers to fall all over themselves trying to get some of that prime advertising space.

While dollar figures are not to be expected to rival the Super Bowl, the numbers will be very strong and this show is expected to be the most watched of the evening. Oprah has made herself one of the most popular and clean marketing brands with her award winning TV show, a popular magazine, “O”, and has made multi-millionaires out of Dr. Phil and Dr. Oz.

Oprah even has a store where you can buy all things Oprah as well as a book club where she advertises all manner of things.

This gal from Baltimore has taken her pleasant personality, her enthusiam and her easy manner and turned it into a money machine!

Now, that is a true success story!

What used to be a huge world event is not relegated to the secondary TV channels due to a waning interest in this global sporting exercise. At one time the television stations could count on great ratings from all over but now the ratings are weak and the advertising dollars follow right along.

Sure, the athletes are covered in endorsements and the big names will get on the cover of major magazines, make the rounds with Jay Leno, Oprah, David Letterman et al, but the Olympics as an event is a losing proposition for the host city. The host city has to hope to recoup the millions spent to bring the games to their city by attracting industry, manufacturing and other large businesses.

Every time you see Lindsay Vonn fly down the ski slope or Shaun White do something with a snowboard that demonstrates some alien ability, the city of Vancouver is hoping that the viewers that control large corporations is thinking about a trip to Canada to peruse the landscape for their company which would bring jobs and generate tax revenue.

The lesser athletes are fortunate to be able to go to the Olympics and expect little to nothing in endorsements as they are just glad to represent their country. Unlike the Super Bowl, where the city rakes in all sorts of revenue, and the city is flooded with a plethora of athletes hawking anything from pots and pans to hair gel, the Olympics attracts a smaller audience and a dearth of endorsements.

If the TV revenue was up there, the Olympics would be considered a financial and economic success but advertisers pay based upon viewers and if the Olympics are not front and center on a major network, the dollars are just not there.
